Philadelphia's OA lodge, Unami One, was founded in 1915 on Treasure Island, and recognized as the first lodge nationally. Valley Forge Council's OA lodge, Delmont Lodge 43, the much larger of the two lodges, was founded in 1929 at Camp Delmont. When the councils merged, Delmont decided to merge with Unami Lodge and retain Unami's name.

The Reservation is made up of three distinct camps: Camp Delmont, Camp Hart, and Camp Garrison. The reservation is part of the largest contiguous forest in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

The name of the camp derives from the Octoraro Creek , a tributary of the Susquehanna River , that makes a meandering four-mile horseshoe through the property.
The Retreat State Hospital was declining in patients and was closed in 1981 and planning for SCI-Retreat's conversion began. Similar conversions were made at Cresson Center (Now SCI-Cresson) and the former Waynesburg Youth Development Center (Was SCI-Waynesburg from 1985-2004). Retreat was the first correctional facility built since 1960.
The Order of the Arrow Lodge for the French Creek Council is Langundowi Lodge #46. This Lodge came into existence in 1972 with the merger of the former Eriez Lodge #46 (Erie, PA), Hoh-Squa-Sa-Gah-Da Lodge #251 (Sharon, PA) and the Skanondo Inyan Lodge #256 (Oil City, PA). The name "Langundowi" means "Peaceful One" in Lenape.
