The Rotterdam Public Transport Museum (Dutch: Rotterdams Openbaar Vervoer Museum) is a transport museum in the Dutch city of Rotterdam and is located in a former tram depot. The museum was founded in 1997, although the depot was built in 1923 and its collection dates back to as far as 1880.
For the service on the museum tram line, old electric trams built between 1904 and 1960 are used, including those from Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Zeist, Groningen, Vienna and Prague. The museum tram service is fully maintained by volunteers of the Rijdend Electrisch Tram Museum (RETM) association.
The Rotterdam tramway network (Dutch: Rotterdams tramnet) is a key element of the overall public transport arrangements in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Opened in 1879, the network currently has nine regular tramlines, and three special or seasonal tramlines.

In 1999–2000, a new indoor exhibition space was built. The museum won the European Museum of the Year Award in 2005. [2]

It started in 1905 when they took over the city tram lines from RTM (Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij). It currently operates 64 bus lines, 11 tram lines and five metro/light rail lines in Rotterdam and the surrounding municipalities. RET used to employ the national tariff system, like other local transport companies in the Netherlands.
