Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park is a recreational city park, located in Foster City, California and run by the city government and local citizens. Originally called "Central Park", the park was renamed in 1979 in honor and memory of Congressman Leo J. Ryan. [1] The park is situated on 20 acres (8 ha) which overlook Foster City's lagoon. [2]
It serves as the location for the Foster City Summer concerts. Adjacent to the park is a boardwalk with boat tie-up facilities. In addition, Foster City maintains an extensive 218-acre (0.9 km 2), [35] man-made enclosed lagoon system. The lagoons were initially designed as a drainage system required in order to efficiently drain the lowland city.
