Blickling is a village and civil parish in the Broadland district of the English county of Norfolk. Blickling is located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-west of Aylsham and 13 miles (21 km) north of Norwich .

Mary was probably born at Blickling Hall, the family seat in Norfolk, and grew up at Hever Castle, Kent. [5] She was the daughter of a wealthy diplomat and courtier, Thomas Boleyn, later Earl of Wiltshire, by his marriage to Elizabeth Howard, the eldest daughter of Thomas Howard, then Earl of Surrey and future 2nd Duke of Norfolk, and his first wife Elizabeth Tilney.
