Tennessee has 59 designated state parks, operated by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). The largest park, Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail, is made up of land along the Cumberland Trail, stretching from Cumberland Gap at the Virginia state line to Prentice Cooper State Forest in Marion County, just northwest of Chattanooga. The park was created in 2024 after being a state natural area and managed by the Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail State Park [2] and perseveres the North Chickamauga Creek gorge, the Creek which is a Tennessee State Scenic River. The park is billed as the Southern Gateway to the Cumberland Trail. [3]
Radnor Lake State Natural Area, also known as Radnor Lake State Park, is a popular state natural area and state park in Oak Hill, Tennessee within Nashville. The 1,368 acres (5.54 km 2) nature preserve lies just outside Nashville. Five miles of unpaved trails wander through the woods surrounding the lake.
The park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) between 1934 and 1942 on about 12,000 acres (49 km 2) of land donated to the State of Tennessee in 1933 by the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company. CCC crews built hiking trails, a recreation lodge, a ranger station, five rustic cabins, and a 12-acre (4.9 ha) lake known as Arch Lake.
Chickasaw State Park is a state park located in Chester County, Tennessee, in the Southeastern United States. The park consists of 1,280 acres (5 km 2 ) amidst a 14,384 acres (58 km 2 ) state forest and includes Lake Placid, Lake Lajoie, and some of West Tennessee's highest areas.
