Calabash is a small fishing town in Brunswick County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census , the population of the town was 2,011. [ 5 ] It is known as the "Seafood Capital of the World" because of the town's seafood restaurants.
Its southwestern border is the South Carolina state line; the town of Calabash borders Carolina Shores to the south. U.S. Route 17 (Ocean Highway) forms the northwestern border of the town; the highway leads 47 miles (76 km) northeast to Wilmington and 24 miles (39 km) southwest to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina .
