Junior parkrun was launched in 2010, a 2k event for for children aged four to 14 and their families which takes place on a Sunday morning in the UK, Ireland and Australia.
Junior Parkrun (stylised as junior parkrun) is a spin-off event that provides a 2 kilometres (1 + 1 ⁄ 4 miles) event for children aged 4–14, held on Sunday mornings. Parents and guardians are allowed to run with their children but are not eligible for a placed finish.
It evolved into Parkrun – a free 5-kilometre timed running event that takes place every Saturday morning. The first event took place on 2 October 2004, with 13 entrants. In April 2010 a two-kilometre "Junior Parkrun" format was added at Bushy Park for children aged 4 to 14 (held monthly on Sunday mornings). [8]
