EA Sports College Football (formerly known as Bill Walsh College Football, College Football USA and NCAA Football) is an American football video game series developed by EA Sports in which players control and compete against current Division I FBS college teams. It served as a college football counterpart to the Madden NFL series.
The game was originally published by Time Warner under the name "Sports Illustrated Pro Football". Avalon Hill later bought the game and renamed it Paydirt, marketing it with a college football version of the game called Bowl Bound. Avalon Hill hired Dr. Thomas R. Nicely, a statistician, to redevelop the mathematics of the gameplay.
Conceptualized by Andreas Thorstensson, Goals will follow a free-to-play business model with a focus on esports viability. First announced on July 22, 2021, the game is intended to compete with the FIFA & eFootball series of video games, with a focus on responsiveness over fidelity.
