This map reflects the nominal voltage of residential buildings of most countries. In the USA and Canada, there are 2 nominal voltages: 120V and 240V concurrently. This is not a 3 phase system and 240V is not a phase-phase voltage. This system is unique and is only used in certain parts of the world. 230/380V in Europe does not use a similar system.
World Plugs includes some history, a description of plug types, and a list of countries giving the type(s) used and the mains voltage and frequency. Although useful for quick reference, especially for travellers, IEC World Plugs may not be regarded as totally accurate, as illustrated by the examples in the plugs section below, and errors may exist.
Example of a Europlug. The Europlug is a flat, non-rewirable two-pole, round-pin domestic AC power plug, rated for voltages up to 250 V and currents up to 2.5 A. [1] It is a compromise design intended to connect low-power Class II appliances safely to the many different forms of round-pin domestic power socket used across Europe.
Historically, 110 V, 115 V and 117 V have been used at different times and places in North America. [citation needed] Mains power is sometimes spoken of as 110 V; however, 120 V is the nominal voltage.
A rare total solar eclipse will cut a 115-mile-wide path April 8 across North America, but less than a week before it happens, new research suggests fewer Hoosiers could experience the totality ...
Did Columbus make the list of kindest cities in America? Toledo, Dayton, Akron, Cincinnati and Cleveland made the cut. 5 major Ohio cities named as kind cities.
In 1986, the International Electrotechnical Commission published IEC 60906-1, a specification for a plug and socket that look similar, but are not identical, to the Swiss plug and socket. This standard was intended to one day become common for all of Europe and other regions with 230 V mains, but the effort to adopt it as a European Union ...
In 2021, the state said it documented 20,000 orphan wells in a report to the Interior Department. The Wayne National Forest is home to at least 200 abandoned oil and gas wells in southeast Ohio ...
