Rossen Milanov is the orchestra's music director. The Columbus Symphony offers annually 12 classical concert programs, mostly in pairs of two performances, 6 pops programs, and 2 Concerts for Kids. In the summer the orchestra performs a series of outdoor pops programs, "Picnic with the Pops" and "Popcorn Pops", on the lawn of Columbus Commons .
Construction began on the facility in 2013 and was completed in time for the 2015 concert season. The Rose Music Center is owned by the city of Huber Heights and operated by Music and Event Management of Cincinnati. The facility is part of The Heights, an 800-acre residential and retail development.

His achievements included leading on a 1995 European tour, the orchestra's first since 1969, and its first national television appearance on PBS.
