basically, you adjust the CSS properties so that the 2 tables look like they are one table. it doesn't really help your problem. it occurs to me, though, that you could create a 'fake' table with of an artful use of html lists and CSS. it would be kind of odd-looking, though. let me see if I can make a quick mockup.
In this example, the scope attribute defines what the headers describe, column or row, which screen readers use. You can add a table using HTML rather than wiki markup, as described at HTML element#Tables. However, HTML tables are discouraged because wikitables are easier to customize and maintain, as described at manual of style on tables.
Note: Wikipedia:HTML 5#Table attributes. CSS to replace obsolete attributes for borders, padding, spacing, etc. Add a border around a table using the CSS property border: thickness style color;, for example border:3px dashed red. This example uses a solid (non-dashed) gray border that is one pixel wide:
It functions the same as the previous example with the content of the "ordered list without any list items", which itself is an ordered list, expressed with # codes; the HTML produced, and hence the rendering, is the same. This is the simplest method, and recommended when starting a simple list with number 1.

This template counts the number of rows in wikitext tables. It does not work with nested tables, HTML tables, or tables contained in templates. It will also ignore <nowiki>...</nowiki> tags and <pre>...</pre> tags. The template works by getting the wikitext source of a page and counting the number of tables in that source.
For example, nested tables (tables inside tables) should be separated into distinct tables when possible. Here is a more advanced example, showing some more options available for making up tables. Users can play with these settings in their own table to see what effect they have.
