It has a total length of 2,805 kilometres (1,743 mi) [3] stretching from Kandla port in Gujarat to the city of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh via Madhya Pradesh. The project cost is estimated to be ₹ 9,000-10,000 crore.
