Mungo Jerry (formerly known as Mungo Jerry Blues Band) are a British rock band formed by Ray Dorset in Ashford, Middlesex, in 1970.Experiencing their greatest success in the early 1970s, with a changing line-up always fronted by Dorset, the group's biggest hit was "In the Summertime", which sold 30 million copies worldwide and is the biggest-selling single of all-time by a British band.
Raymond Edward Dorset [citation needed] (born 21 March 1946) is a British guitarist, singer, songwriter, and founder of Mungo Jerry.Dorset composed most of the group's songs, and in 1979 wrote "Feels Like I'm in Love" becoming a number one hit single for the Scottish disco singer Kelly Marie.

1. Mungo Jerry. In the 1960s, a British group called Mungo Jerry brought jug band music to the masses with their hit single “In the Summertime.”
Written by Ray Dorset [3] of Mungo Jerry, the song was originally written for Elvis Presley [4] [5] but he died before it was ever recorded. Dorset's group recorded the song but their version was relegated to the B-side of a Belgian single, "Sur le Pont d'Avignon".
The death is later ruled an accident. Daisley came to international notice as a bass player and member of the English blues band Chicken Shack in 1972, before going on to play with Mungo Jerry in 1973 and on their 1974 album Long-Legged Woman Dressed in Black. After this he co-formed Widowmaker, contributing to two albums – 1975's self-titled debut and Too Late to Cry in 1977.
Paul Malcolm King (born 9 January 1948, Dagenham, Essex, England), is an English musician who was a member of Mungo Jerry between 1970 and 1972. He contributed occasional lead vocals, and played acoustic guitar (6- and 12-string), banjo, [1] harmonica, kazoo and jug.
