Henry "Harry" Maury (c. 1827–1869) was an officer in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. [1] Rising to the rank of colonel, he commanded the 15th Confederate Cavalry Regiment at the close of the war. [1] He was a cousin of Matthew F. Maury, and a native of North Carolina. [1] He died in Mobile, Alabama, in 1869. [1]
In November, the 44th Alabama regiment was added to this brigade. The Alabama brigade was reorganized a final time in January 1863; and the 15th, 47th, and 48th Alabama regiments were added. Commanded by Evander M. Law it was a part of Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.
The 1st Alabama Cavalry Regiment was raised at Montgomery, Alabama, in November 1861. Its men were raised out of the following counties: Montgomery, Morgan, Dale, Tallapoosa, Calhoun, Pike, Autauga, Monroe, Butler, and Mobile. [1] Ordered to Tennessee, the regiment fought at the Battle of Shiloh in April 1862.
