The M4 Motorway is a 55-kilometre (34 mi) [1] series of partially tolled dual carriageway motorways in Sydney designated as route M4. The M4 designation is part of the wider A4 and M4 route designation, the M4 runs parallel and/or below ground to Great Western Highway , Parramatta Road and City West Link , which are part of route A44.

It links Llanelli, Swansea, Neath , Port Talbot , Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport directly to London and the rest of southern England , and indirectly to the Midlands via the A449 , A40 and M50 .
The first motorway suspension bridge was inaugurated on 8 September 1966, and the newer cable-stayed bridge, a few miles to the south, was inaugurated on 5 June 1996. The Second Severn crossing stands more of less where the mid Severn Estuary becomes the upper estuary. It was officially renamed the Prince of Wales Bridge on 2 July 2018. [2]
