Menasha (/ m ə ˈ n æ ʃ ə /) is a city in Winnebago and Calumet counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 18,268 at the 2020 census. Of this, 15,144 were in Winnebago County, and 2,209 were in Calumet County. The city's name comes from the Winnebago word meaning "thorn" or "island". [7]
As of the census of 2020, the city's population was 18,974. [14] There were 8,572 total housing units and the employment rate was 65.5% in 2020. 1,304 (6.87%) residents were Hispanic or Latino . The median household income was $70,664.
Menasha was a town in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States, west of the Fox River across from the city of Menasha, Wisconsin. The population was 18,498 at the 2010 census, [ 1 ] making it the second most populous town in the state of Wisconsin at the time of its dissolution. [ 2 ]
The Appleton Post-Crescent decided to purchase the Twin City News-Record, which had been formed when the Menasha Record and the Neenah News Times merged in 1949. The "Appleton" portion of the name was removed in 1964 to reflect that the newspaper reached farther than the city limits.
The city is the southwesternmost of the Fox Cities of northeast Wisconsin. It is a principal city of the Oshkosh–Neenah metropolitan statistical area, which consists of all of Winnebago County and had 171,730 residents in 2020. It is sometimes referred to as a twin city with Menasha, with which it shares Doty Island.
