Ohio State School for the Blind (OSSB or OSB) is a school located in Columbus, Ohio, United States. It is run by the Ohio Department of Education for blind and visually impaired students across Ohio. It was established in 1837, making it the nation's first public school for the visually impaired.
The Ohio State University (Ohio State or OSU) is a public land-grant research university in Columbus, Ohio, United States. A member of the University System of Ohio , it was founded in 1870. It is one of the largest universities by enrollment in the United States, with nearly 50,000 undergraduate students and nearly 15,000 graduate students.
Newark, the largest of Ohio State's regional campuses, enrolled 2,422 students this fall, a 15.6% decrease from 2020. Lima saw the greatest hit to enrollment, down 24.7% in that same time.
The Ohio Medical University built Protestant Hospital, the forerunner of Riverside Methodist Hospitals, which still exists. In 1907, the Ohio Medical University merged with Starling Medical College to form the Starling-Ohio Medical College. [3] The Ohio State College of Medicine was established in 1914 with William Means as the first dean.
The hospital gained its most distinctive modern feature in 1971 – a tall cylindrical tower with a Modernist design. The 16-story tower was designed with all private rooms, unique in 1971. In 1992, Quorum Health Group purchased it, renaming it Park Medical Center. The Ohio State University (OSU) acquired it for about $13 million in 1999.
