The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) is a trade union representing about 100,000 painters, glaziers, wall coverers, flooring installers, convention and trade show decorators, glassworkers, sign and display workers, asbestos worker/hazmat technician and drywall finishers in the United States and Canada. The first international conference of painters' trade unions was held in Leipzig in 1907, and a second was held in Munich in 1911. This conference agreed to form an international trade federation, which was launched at a further conference, in Zürich, later in the year. [1]
