R4 Yes, Deborah Kerr was nominated for The Sundowners that year. She won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress. It's interesting that both Burt Lancaster and Shirley Jones won Oscars that year for this movie but Jean Simmons didn't even score a nomination. Only a Golden Globe nomination.

The husband of Jean Simmons referred to was English actor Stewart Granger, but Simmons sleeping with Burton while married to Granger is only part of the story. I haven't see the Robe in years, but thought it was better than average for the bible movies. The one thing I remember is Jean Simmons. I always liked her and I think she helped elevate the movie a little. She had a decent career, but feel she could have been a bigger star.

Joan Greenwood played the Jean Simmons role on stage and I'm sure she would have been delightfully minx-ish. Cary Grant was supposed to play the rich American role but was shifted to play the unbelievably passive husband. Mitchum is incapable of playing comedy. He's frightful. Deborah really can't do comedy either and she does whine.

Odds Against Tomorrow. That video for The RKO Story episode seems out of synch. “Woman on the Run,” (1950, dir Norman Foster) with the wonderful and woefully underrated Ann Sheridan and noir mainstay Dennis O’Keefe. Great plot twists and a dizzying ending at an atmospheric California boardwalk.
