  2. Bond strength in order | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/bond-strength-in-order.707034

Strongest to weakest: covalent >>>>>>> ionic >> ion-dipole = H-bonding > dipole-dipole >>>>> van der waals. Covalent bond is strongest by far since there is a sharing of electrons between two atoms. Ionic is an electrical attraction between a metal and non-metal... much like the others types of interactions except stronger. 1 user.

  3. Bond strength order | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/bond-strength-order.439632

just wanna make sure i'm understanding it right cuz i feel like i'm losing sight of the basics with test so near  ionic > covalent types of covalent polar > nonpolar > coordniate covalent ? covalent > hydrogen > other dipole dipole (that aren't Hydrong bonds) > dispersion forces

  4. C-O, C-N, and ionic bond strength | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/c-o-c-n-and-ionic-bond-strength.1282556

C-C is 347 kJ/mol, C-N is 305 kJ/mol, and C-O is 358 kJ/mol. C=C is 614 kJ/mol, C=N is 615 kJ/mol, and C=O is 745 kJ/mol. The trend is not consistent, and sigma bonds between C and N are an exception. I recall my professor talking about an orbital overlap issue between C and N in the sigma bond but that the pi bonds between C and C, N, and O ...

  5. relationship between bond strength, energy, and stability.

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/relationship-between-bond-strength-energy-and...

    1. Bond energy = energy required to break the bond. 2. Using above definition. Stable bonds are difficult to break and are therefore high in energy. Summarizing: Strong=Stable=High Energy=Shorter. 3. I think that when talking about stable bonds as being "low in energy" that refers to the change in free energy for the reaction.

  6. Single, Double, & Triple Bond - Student Doctor Network...

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/single-double-triple-bond.218066

Jul 30, 2005. #3. I got confused. I am pretty sure triple bonds are the strongest then double then single. If you think about it, a triple bond has one sigma and two pi bonds. Double has one of each and a single just has a sigma. Its the opposite though for stability. Single bonds are the most stable.

hey guys. i wanted to know if you know what is the bond strength order. example, ionic, covalent, network covalent, hydrogen bonding, vander waal... Forums Communities Pre-Med Medical Resident Audiology Dental Optometry Pharmacy Physical Therapy Podiatry Psychology Rehab Sci Veterinary

  8. Ionic vs Covalent Bond Strength | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/ionic-vs-covalent-bond-strength.798901

Feb 18, 2011. #4. Generally, covalent bonds are stronger than ionic bonds, but that is not always the case. Remember that all of this covalent vs ionic stuff takes place on a continuum - they aren't hard and fast rules. Some ionic bonds are stronger than others, depending upon the amount of electrostatic (coloumbic) force at play (Fe3+ has more ...

  9. bond order vs formal charge? | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/bond-order-vs-formal-charge.904094

Apr 12, 2012. #2. No, bond order is just how many bonds between two atoms, as in a C---C bond has a BO of 1, a C==O bond has a BO of 2, etc. 0. M.

  10. do they have more energy or less? - Student Doctor Network...

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/stronger-bonds-are-more-stable-do-they-have...

stronger bonds (either because they are double/triple bonded or b/c they have a shorter bond length), along with other factors, make a chemical species more "stable" (review ochem to get a grasp on stability). Equilibrium in a reaction favors lower energy and stability.

  11. Can someone list bond strengths in order? - Student Doctor...

I'm pretty sure ionic is the strongest, and London forces are the weakest, but can someone sort out the middle
