The Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) was established on January 14, 1998, at Kamaya Point, Alas-asin, Mariveles, Bataan, in an 18-hectare (44-acre) land.It was founded by Capt. Gregorio S. Oca, an alumnus of Philippine Nautical School (presently Philippine Merchant Marine Academy), chairman of the Associated Marine Officers and Seamen's Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP).
Since the Philippine Coast Guard does not have its own service academy to produce its own officers, it relies from the graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA), US Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP), and Coast Guard Officers’ Course (CGOC) as source of its officers.
Opened in 1976, the campus is located at Barangay Malaya, Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB). Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) located at Kamaya Point, Barangay Alas-asin, offering courses in the maritime industry.
