The series, which aired from August 15, 1990 to February 3, 1993, started out as a direct-to-video series before moving to HBO , [ 2 ] and was produced by Scholastic Productions .
The film achieved commercial success on VHS and in HBO airings; reportedly, $1 million was spent on video-store advertisements. [6] HBO Home Entertainment released the film on VHS and Betamax in the spring of 1992. [7] HBO later released it on DVD in 2001.
