Lake Hopatcong is the largest freshwater body in New Jersey, United States, about 4 square miles (10 km 2) in area. Hopatcong State Park is a state park in the Landing section of Roxbury Township, New Jersey, United States.Operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry, the park consists of two parcels of land: one that encompasses Lake Hopatcong and some of its southwestern shore, and another that encompasses Lake Musconetcong about one mile to the west-southwest.
A large addition was constructed in the early 18th century. A wooden floor was built over the original dirt floor around 1730. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and is still privately owned. The cabin is opened for tours by appointment through owner Doris Rink, who resides in the adjoining structure. [5]

Landing wrote A century of summers: the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club's first hundred years which was a joint project of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum and the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club.
The lake was deeded over to the State of New Jersey with the other parts of the Morris Canal System in 1924. Boating, fishing, and ice fishing are popular recreational activities on this lake. The lake covers 329 acres (1.33 km 2 ), with a mean depth of approximately 5 feet (1.5 m) and a maximum depth of 10 feet (3.0 m).
