The propellant was of 54 g (1.9 oz; 830 gr) of black powder, the metal launch tube had a length of 80 cm (31 + 1 ⁄ 2 in) and a diameter of 3.3 cm (1.3 in) (early models reportedly 2.8 cm (1.1 in)). The Panzerfaust was a recoilless gun. So it needed no recoil mechanism and no breech. It also was an expendable single-use weapon. So the tube could be made of low quality steel. All this meant it was very light and cheap. The drawback was, you couldn't hit an elephant at 30 metres with it :o).--MWAK 15:01, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
