In mathematics, exponentiation, denoted b n, is an operation involving two numbers: the base, b, and the exponent or power, n. [1] When n is a positive integer, exponentiation corresponds to repeated multiplication of the base: that is, b n is the product of multiplying n bases: [1] = ⏟.
The term superexponentiation was published by Bromer in his paper Superexponentiation in 1987. [3] It was used earlier by Ed Nelson in his book Predicative Arithmetic, Princeton University Press, 1986. The term hyperpower [4] is a natural combination of hyper and power, which aptly describes tetration.

The exponential function (in blue), and the sum of the first n + 1 terms of its power series (in red) where ! is the factorial of n (the product of the n first positive integers). This series is absolutely convergent for every per the ratio test. So, the derivative of the sum can be computed by term-by-term derivation, and this shows that the ...
The apparent plural form in English goes back to the Latin neuter plural mathematica , based on the Greek plural ta mathēmatiká (τὰ μαθηματικά) and means roughly "all things mathematical", although it is plausible that English borrowed only the adjective mathematic(al) and formed the noun mathematics anew, after the pattern of ...
Two to the power of n, written as 2 n, is the number of values in which the bits in a binary word of length n can be set, where each bit is either of two values. A word, interpreted as representing an integer in a range starting at zero, referred to as an "unsigned integer", can represent values from 0 (000...000 2) to 2 n − 1 (111...111 2) inclusively.
