New Holstein's principal business was a flour mill. [9] Near the railroad depot was a grain elevator owned by Herman Timm. In 1900 the census reported a population of 569. [5] New Holstein was incorporated as a village the following year. The first lights were installed in the city in 1912. [5] New Holstein became a city in April 1926. [11]

New Holstein Municipal Airport covers an area of 267 acres (108 ha) at an elevation of 992 feet (302 m) above mean sea level. It has two runways: 14/32 is 3,600 by 75 feet (1,097 x 23 m) with an asphalt surface and 4/22 is 2,951 by 250 feet (899 x 76 m) with a turf surface. [1] The main runway was paved in 1958. [3]
Former military road at Calumetville. Immigrants began settling in Wisconsin in the 1830s. [3] To get to Wisconsin, they typically traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to New York City, then up the Hudson River to the Erie Canal, and followed the Erie Canal across New York state to Buffalo. From Buffalo they traversed the Great Lakes to Wisconsin.
