Critical reception for The Gateway has been mixed. On Rotten Tomatoes the film holds a rating of 63% based on 8 reviews. [1] Harry Windsor of The Hollywood Reporter wrote, "A nifty premise — a grieving widow brings a parallel-world version of her husband back to her own, with disastrous consequences — isn't enough to transcend a torpid screenplay".
Gateway's early advertising made a huge point about the source of their products (presumably middle America), which was the whole purpose of the spotted cow logo. Implicit in the Gateway experience was the idea that you were buying a computer made in the USA--built by wholesome people in the Plains states.
