South Milwaukee was laid out in 1891 by the South Milwaukee company within the Town of Oak Creek, with the purpose of serving as a rival industrial suburb of the City of Milwaukee, [7] and was named from its location south of Milwaukee. South Milwaukee may soon offer indoor pickleball. The owners of South Side Soccer, 305 N. Chicago Ave. converted a former AMF bowling alley into an indoor soccer facility for kids a few years ago.

This was a community center that housed a daycare, Planned Parenthood, a health clinic for low-income families, and a branch of the Madison Public Library.
