Pogo (revived as Walt Kelly's Pogo) was a daily comic strip that was created by cartoonist Walt Kelly and syndicated to American newspapers from 1948 until 1975. Set in the Okefenokee Swamp in the Southeastern United States , Pogo followed the adventures of its anthropomorphic animal characters, including the title character, an opossum .
Up until Fantagraphics began publishing this hardcover collection, the only somewhat complete trade paperback series, released by Simon & Schuster from 1951 to 1973, [3] had been the most comprehensive collection of the comic strip, "somewhat complete" meaning missing sequences, dropped panels, abridged plot lines and sometimes unsupplemented new drawings.
