The Miller House and Garden, also known as Miller House, is a mid-century modern home designed by Eero Saarinen and located in Columbus, Indiana, United States. [3] The residence, commissioned by American industrialist, philanthropist, and architecture patron J. Irwin Miller and his wife Xenia Simons Miller in 1953, is now owned by Newfields. [4]
The home was built by industrialist Abram Gaar, [2] president of Gaar-Scott and Company, manufacturers of steam engines and threshing machines from 1842 to 1911. Total construction cost of the home was $20,000 it took eight months to build. [3] The house is situated on a rise overlooking the city of Richmond from the north.
The next highest flood of the area, in 1997, came within 30 feet (9.1 m) of the building.
