Ohio Valley University was a private Christian college located between Parkersburg and Vienna in West Virginia. Founded in 1958 (with classes beginning in fall 1960), the school integrated education with teachings of the Christian faith. The college was physically located on two separate campuses totalling 267 acres (108 ha).
The Ohio Valley Conference basketball tournament was held in Louisville from 1949–55 and from 1964 to 1967. From 1956 to 1963 and from 1968 to 1974, no tournament was held. From 1975 to 1991, the tournament was held at the arena of the team that finished atop the conference standings. It has been held at a neutral site since 1992.

The 2000 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament of the Ohio Valley Conference during the 1999–2000 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. It was held February 29 – March 5, 2000. The first round was hosted by the higher seeded team in each game.
