Black Thunder Theme Park (P) Ltd is a theme park in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located on the National Highway (Mettupalayam-Ooty) on the foothills of Nilgiris . [ 1 ] It is situated in Coimbatore city, 40 km north of the city and occupies an area of about 60 acres (24 ha).
It was started as a halt station for the Coimbatore–Mettupalayam branch line. [6] Until 1956, the Coimbatore Railway Division was functioning with Podanur as the headquarters before the headquarters was shifted to Olavakkode which became Palakkad railway division. [7] The station became part of the newly formed Salem railway division in 2006. [8]
Mettupalayam is situated at the base of Nilgiri Hills and hence is the starting point for the Ghat Roads. MEMU express special trains are operated between Coimbatore Junction and Mettupalayam daily. Coimbatore is 35 km by road from Mettupalayam, and the nearest airport is Coimbatore International Airport .

In 2012, the government finally decided to abandon the project in favour of an eastern road that connected Mettupalayam Road with Avinashi Road and the existing L&T bypass.
