The Diocese of Venice in Florida (Latin: Dioecesis Venetiae in Florida) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory–or diocese, of the Catholic Church in southwest Florida in the United States. It was founded on June 16, 1984. Frank Dewane has been bishop since 2007.
Bishop John J. Nevins was installed as the diocese's first bishop. Two years later Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Venice was founded from Epiphany Cathedral. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Osprey was founded from the cathedral in 2001. On July 25, 2006 Frank J. Dewane was ordained coadjutor bishop of Venice. [3]

Dewane was ordained to the priesthood at Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay for the Diocese of Green Bay by Cardinal Adam Maida on July 16, 1988. [1] After his 1988 ordination, the diocese assigned Dewane as assistant pastor at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Green Bay, Wisconsin, until 1991. He worked for the diocesan tribunal as well.
