The Sultan of Perak (سلطان ڤيراق ) is the constitutional monarch and head of state of Malaysian state of Perak. It is one of the oldest hereditary seats among the Malay states. The current Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, has been in office since 29 May 2014.

The House of Jamalullail of Perak is one of the oldest Syed (Saiyid) clans in Malaysia. It was established in early 16th century when Syed Husain Al Faradz Jamalullail from Hadramaut arrived in Perak to spread Islam. He flourished as an ulama in the state during the reign of Sultan Muzaffar Shah I (1528–1549), the first sultan of Perak.
In the same year, Sultan Iskandar Thani sent his distant cousin Raja Sulong to become Sultan of Perak as Perak was still under the auspices of the Aceh Sultanate. After Raja Sulong reached Perak, he was appointed as the 10th Sultan of Perak following the death of the 9th Sultan of Perak, Salehuddin, he used the title of Sultan Muzaffar Shah II. [1]
