This year's State Fair is scheduled for 8-17 August 2024. The State Fairgrounds consists of a large open park for carnivals and exhibition, grandstands, and several exhibition buildings.

By 1986, the Greyhound Bus Line had been spun off from the parent company to new owners, which resulted in Greyhound Lines becoming solely a bus transportation company.
While West Virginia was once crisscrossed with commercial and passenger railroad networks, the decline of the coal and timber industries, coupled with the rise of the automobile, led to a sharp drop in track mileage in the state. Many of the former railroad grades are used as trails for hiking and biking throughout the state's numerous woodlands.
