Tangipahoa Parish (/ ˌ t æ n dʒ ɪ p ə ˈ h oʊ ə /) is a parish located on the southeastern border of the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census , the population was 133,157. [ 2 ] The parish seat is Amite City , [ 3 ] while the largest city is Hammond .
Near the end of its route, LA 1077 abandons its north–south trajectory at the Tangipahoa Parish line and turns east to connect with LA 25. Despite this, the signage for LA 1077 retains north–south directional banners throughout. LA 1077 was designated in the 1955 Louisiana Highway renumbering, primarily replacing the former State Route 188.
