In 1923, the Army, informed by De Dietrich of the invention, asked Imbert to build a wood gasifier for the French government. Astor Place is a street in NoHo/East Village, in the lower part of the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is divided into two sections: One segment runs from Broadway in the west (just below East 8th Street ) to Lafayette Street , and the other runs from Fourth to Third Avenues .

From 1925 until it closed in 1972, it was a first-run movie theater.
