The part-time job Peter had wherein he sings a song "Ding Fries are Done," was based on a song that was popularized by Doctor Demento in the 1990s concerning Burger King, [2] [3] and is a parody of the popular Christmas song "Carol of the Bells".
I think it is significant that "ding fries are done" was googled more than "carol of the bells" in December 2005 (statistics only going back to 2004). Also, the fact that the song has been adapted so many times (including in Family Guy) makes it notable in my eyes.
"Carol of the Bells" is a popular Christmas carol, which is based on the Ukrainian New Year's song "Shchedryk". The music for the carol comes from the song written by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in 1914; the English-language lyrics were written in 1936 by American composer of Ukrainian origin Peter Wilhousky.
I don't know the band, but I looked up the lyrics. I don't see how it relates to "The Bells," really. This is a stretch, but you may find an interview with the band or liner notes or something that says otherwise.
