From 1875 to 1881 Schwedler played at the Stadttheater Düsseldorf. In 1881 he joined the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra as principal flutist and remained there until 1917. [4] In 1886, Johannes Brahms conducted the Leipzig premiere of his Fourth Symphony, and praised Schwedler's playing of the famous fourth movement flute solo.
Jeanne Baxtresser (born August 2, 1947) is an American flutist and teacher. She is most notable for her position as principal flutist of the New York Philharmonic for over 15 years, she decided to play the flute when she was only nine years old, as an author (Orchestral Excerpts for Flute with Piano Accompaniment), and as a professor and master teacher.
She played both the flute, studying with Deborah Carter Smith, and trumpet until she was 17, when she solely pursued the flute. [3] Her parents were very supportive of her interest in music, often driving her to Philadelphia to attend concerts and rehearsals of the Philadelphia Orchestra . [ 3 ]

William Morris Kincaid (26 April 1895 – 27 March 1967) was an American flutist and teacher. He is known for his work as principal flute of the Philadelphia Orchestra for almost 40 years, teaching at the Curtis Institute and being a guiding force in the creation of an American School of flute playing.
