On the grounds is the city's World War I memorial, dedicated in 1919 and designed by Warwick sculptor John G. Hardy, [2] who was also commissioned for memorials in North Providence as well as in Templeton, Massachusetts. The trustees of the museum joined forces with Warwickshire County Council to acquire St John's House in 1961. The Council opened their museum of the ground floor and the trustees of the regimental museum occupied the first floor. Both museums were opened by Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery on 2 August 1961.
