Void was an American hardcore punk band formed in Columbia, Maryland, in 1980. The group was a pioneering force in the thriving Washington, D.C., hardcore scene during the early 1980s, successfully combining elements of punk with heavy metal in a style that was accepted by the scene's otherwise exclusive community.
The Conception Corporation was an American comedy ensemble consisting of Murphy Dunne, Howard R. Cohen, Ira Miller, and Jeff Begun.They recorded three albums (one of them unreleased) between 1970 and 1973, and made the "underground television show" Void Where Prohibited by Law [1] (similar in concept to Ken Shapiro's Groove Tube productions), which was shown in Chicago and Los Angeles in 1971.

The band changed its name to "Void" in 1977, and the following year was joined by Lucien's younger brother, Erik (born February 1960, also in the Netherlands). In 1978, even though Void had won that year's "Battle of the Bands" contest on the Witwatersrand, they were still struggling to find a decent paying gig in the country.
