1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R. In the wake of the 1993 R's success, SVT engineers developed a more powerful R-model based on the 1995 Cobra. The Cobra's 5.0 L V8 was replaced with an SVT modified version of Ford's 5.8 L Windsor V8, re-engineered to have a power output of 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS). A new 22-gallon fuel cell was installed.
A FPV specific body-kit was applied to all cars, using the lights from the XR-range. The kit had a strong resemblance to the BA Falcon V8 Supercar, highlighting the connection to FPR. All three were powered by a unique version of Ford's 5.4-litre Modular V8, with DOHC 4-valve cylinder heads from the Mustang Cobra R engine.
1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. Building on the performance of the Mustang GT, Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) developed an even higher performance car: the Mustang Cobra. For the 1994 and 1995 model years, the 5.0 L V8 was modified for the Cobra with unique intake manifolds, cams, fuel injectors, and heads.
The Cobra II was an appearance package only and offered no true performance upgrades; it was available with the 2.3L four-cylinder and the 2.8L V6 in addition to the 5.0L 302 V8 engine. In 1976 and most of 1977, the Cobra II package was installed by Motortown Corporation [ 8 ] for Ford.
5.4 L 4-valve DOHC V8 installed in a 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R. In 1999, Ford introduced the DOHC 4-valve 5.4 L in the Lincoln Navigator under the InTech moniker, making it the second engine to use this name. Ford later used versions of the DOHC 4-valve 5.4 L in the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R, the Ford GT supercar, and the Ford Shelby GT500.
