Pehr Henrik Ling Bust of Pehr Henrik Ling in Gothenburg Swedish gymnastics at the Royal Central Gymnastics Institute in Stockholm about 1900. Pehr Henrik Ling (15 November 1776 – 3 May 1839) [1] pioneered the teaching of physical education in Sweden. Ling is credited as the father of Swedish massage.

By the end of the Swedish Athletics Association governance, the Swedish record in grenhopp was 2.50 metres (8 ft 2 in) by Leif Dahlgren, IFK Malmö, set in 1931. [ 1 ] The first noted Swedish record in mellanhopp was 3.89 metres (12.8 ft) by Carl Silfverstrand , Djurgårdens IF , set in 1907. [ 3 ]
When he returned home he founded the Institute of the Swedish Movement Cure in New York City and his brother joined his practice. In 1862, Olivia Langdon was treated at the institute. [3] He also established the Improved Movement Cure Institute in New York City. [4] In 1860, Taylor authored the book An Exposition of the Swedish Movement-Cure. [1]
