The Sri Lankan Advanced Level (A-level), formerly known as the Higher School Certificate (HSC), is a General Certificate of Education (GCE) qualification exam in Sri Lanka, similar to the British Advanced Level. It is conducted annually by the Department of Examinations under the Ministry of Education.
To practice law in Sri Lanka, one must be admitted and enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.This is achieved by passing law exams at the Sri Lanka Law College which are administered by the Council of Legal Education and spending a period of six months under a practicing attorney of at least 8 years standing as an articled clerk.

SEUSL offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses that award degrees such as BA, BBA, BSc. in MIT,BCom, BSc and MBA. The university had 2,237 students and 338 employees in 2010. [2] It is the thirteenth largest university in Sri Lanka in student numbers. [2] In 2009/10 the university admitted 836 undergraduates. [3]
It offers four postgraduate degrees in total, namely, M.Sc., M.Phil., MBA and Ph.D. in agriculture. The university is a state university, with most of its funding coming from the central government via the University Grants Commission (UGC). Therefore, as with all other state universities in Sri Lanka, the UGC recommends its vice-chancellor for appointment by the President of Sri Lanka and makes appointments of its administrative staff.
