Killer: A Journal of Murder (1995) is an American drama film written and directed by Tim Metcalfe. It is loosely adapted from a book of the same title, on the life of American serial killer Carl Panzram, who was active in the early 20th century and executed in 1930. It uses some passages drawn from his own writings near the end of his life.
The short film is presented as a teaser trailer for a 9-hour-long movie. It opens with a voice-over telling the viewer that: "some murders take seconds; some murders take minutes; some murders take hours; this murder... will take years!".
The film's central conceit was to produce a real action film, with MacGruber as comic relief. [7] It was inspired by their love of 1980s–90s action films, such as Lethal Weapon, Rambo, and Die Hard.
