Stephen Ray Vaughan (also known as SRV; October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) was an American musician, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the blues rock trio Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.
Notable as Stevie Ray Vaughan's final concert performances before his death, the August 25–26, 1990 shows at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Wisconsin were taped both on soundboard and portable recorder. The first night's concert was captured by a camcorder, showing fleeting glimpses of the stage.
The tour included a performance on Austin City Limits, which was broadcast for PBS on February 28, 1984. [3] The band also performed a sold-out show at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. [4] Variety described the performance by calling Vaughan "the guitar hero of the present era". [5]
In the Beginning is the second live album by Stevie (Ray) Vaughan and Double Trouble (the stage name at that time did not include Vaughan's middle name). While the album was released about two years after Vaughan's death in 1990, the actual performance took place on April 1, 1980, at Steamboat 1874 in Austin, Texas, and was broadcast live on KLBJ-FM radio.

In August 1990, Cray played with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, and Stevie Ray Vaughan at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin, performing "Sweet Home Chicago". This was Stevie Ray Vaughan's final performance before he died in a helicopter accident later that night.
