Dhrupad is a genre in Hindustani classical music from the Indian subcontinent.It is the oldest known style of major vocal styles associated with Hindustani classical music (for example in the Haveli Sangeet of Pushtimarg Sampradaya [citation needed]), and is also related to the South Indian Carnatic tradition.
Saregama owns music repertoire across film music, non-film music, Carnatic, Hindustani classical, devotional music, etc. in over 25 Indian languages. Being an ancient raga, its original name is unknown. It is believed to be borrowed into Hindustani classical music by Miyan Tansen, the famous 16th-century composer in emperor Akbar's court. It belongs to the Kanada family. This tradition is reflected in the name itself; Darbar is the Persian derived word in Hindi meaning "court."
