RegioJet a.s. (VKM: RJ) [3] is a private Czech provider of passenger rail and bus transport. The company Student Agency , owned by Czech businessman Radim Jančura , is the sole owner. A sister company of the same name, with its registered office in Bratislava , is an operator of passenger rail and bus transport in Slovakia .
RegioJet is a private railway operator which competes with state-owned Czech and Slovak railways. They have been given the right to operate on Czech tracks and are one of the service providers on the Ostrava-Prague connection. They also offer train services in Slovakia and operate routes to other European cities, such as Vienna. [2]
During the June–September summer tourist season, RegioJet trains run daily/ 3 times weekly between Split (as M604 terminus) and Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, [13] and starting from 2022, Krakow. [14] Hungarian railways Adria train between Budapest and Split runs daily from June to September.
In 2010, the Czech government proposed merging Správa železnic (then-called SŽDC) and České dráhy to a single company. In 2011, RegioJet, a subsidiary of Student Agency, became the first company to actively compete with České dráhy on a route, launching a service between Prague and Havířov. [6]
