Hong Kong’s flag carrier Cathay Pacific has canceled dozens of flights as it conducts an inspection of its entire Airbus A350 fleet after finding engine problems affecting the plane.
The proposed A350 was a new design, including a wider fuselage cross-section, allowing seating arrangements ranging from an eight-across low-density premium economy layout to a ten-across high-density seating configuration for a maximum seating capacity of 440–475 depending on variant.
Cathay Pacific is one of the largest operators of the A350-1000, with 18 of them. It also has 30 of the smaller, more popular A350-900 planes, which were also grounded for inspection.
