I'm on mac and so tmodloader is unable to load bigger mods such as calamity. I've managed to download the mod itself but I don't know how to actually insert it into tmodloader/Terraria. Any ideas or suggestions?

From the t modloader mod browser/mod manager you should have an option that opens the mod directory or somewhere close to it and you put the downloaded .tmod file in there. I think Consolaria is not updated to TModLoader/Terraria 1.4 though so you might have to downgrade in the Steam library options of TModLoader perhaps? Incoming call...
